How it works

The Scylla Camera Health Monitoring functionality comprises a series of checks and verification steps to ensure that the stream source (CCTV camera) is operating correctly and has not been tampered with in any way.

Firstly, the basic functionality verifies whether the camera stream is accessible. Once this initial check is passed, Scylla Camera Health Monitoring proceeds to analyze scene changes to determine if the camera has been tilted. This step ensures that minor, irrelevant changes in the scene, such as illumination variations, shadows, or the movement of small objects and people, do not trigger false alarms.

The final check is designed to detect any camera obscuration or tampering. If the camera is partially or fully covered by paint, a cloth, or a bag, resulting in any uniform area in its view, the obscuration change check will detect and report it. This ensures that any attempts to obscure or tamper with the camera are promptly identified and addressed.
